My Top 5 Reasons To Garden

There's something therapeutic about getting outside in the sunshine and into the dirt -- especially if you can get a few moments to yourself – and take out those frustrations on some weedy buggers!

1)    Relaxing and Therapeutic

During these last few months in Lockdown, I have been looking forward to getting outdoors. We have all been in each other’s spaces and this will be a nice change of scenery. Getting in the garden makes me get in the zone.

2)    Recycle and Reuse our waste

From egg cartons to Salad plastic boxes, I do my best to reuse an item of waste if possible. Now I know not everything can be recycled in a home garden, but we can make a difference of what goes into our local landfills.

As I get older, reducing my families Carbon footprint is becoming more and more important to me. My sons are going to be in the world long after I leave and if I can make it last, even for a few moments longer, I will.

3)   Pride in Growing my own food

Need I say more? I get satisfaction knowing that during those months we get the freshest possible salad greens, cucumbers and tomatoes. And it tastes like Heaven

It’s fulfilling – like in my SOUL fulfilling -- at least for me anyways.

If we can eat from the Garden, even if only a few meals in the growing season, I AM saving.

Saving money.

Saving gas.

Saving time.

And most importantly saving my ENERGY.

4)     Have a PASSION and LOVE for taking care of something living (other than my children ;) of course)

Being able to be part of a living organism from seed to spent is truly remarkable. If I ever figure out how to record it on my GoPro (yes I’m a bit tech challenged) I will share with you my Point of view.

--- This is probably the MOST important reason so I saved it for last ---

5)   Makes me Happy

Now usually I would NOT need this justified, but seeing as this is a blog, I will try to illustrate my feelings.

When I step outside, and see all of the hard work I have put it in until that point, I am Grateful to have been a part of it and Proud to have made best use of the space I have been blessed with.

Even though my TOP 5 Reasons are not the same as yours; maybe we share a few in common? Leave me a comment and let me know what is going to motivate you to get DIRTY?!?!?
